DeShawn Snow: “A Flopped Bling Fundraiser” Free, Cash or Charge!

November 4, 2008 · 10 Comments

Into the 4th episode of Bravotv’s “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” reality show, DeShawn Snow, founder of the “The DeShawn Snow Foundation” for improving self-esteem in teenage girls: decides to host a top of the line fund raising jewelry auction for her charity.

The intention here is to raise a million dollars by using an enormous amount of bling in one night, to benefit her foundations cause.  DeShawn Snow, wife of captain of the Cleveland Cavaliers, wants to invite all of Atlanta’s finest social circle, to attend her charity event.  Yet, DeShawn does not sell any tickets to this bling event, she spends $30,000. to prepare for this event; then leaves flyers at the Mall, and goes on TV to invite everyone on the street to attend her charitable event.

It does not appear as if DeShawn Snow understands what the word elite means, and why Atlanta’s finest would not want to attend her at home fundraiser and rub shoulders with fashion/hair stylist, make-up artist and ego’s who fell into money; not to mention the scores of young women looking for an opportunity.

The word “elite and “finest” is being thrown around on this reality show, but what is really portrayed here at this bling event; is a group of middle-class intellectually accomplished and financially secure people sipping cocktail’s and mingling with a new breed of upcoming elite “wanna bees” who verbally flaunt their material possessions, playing dress-up and pretending real hard to impress each other.  Now what we really would like to know is what level of social circle qualifies a person to be called an elite, an aristocrat or referred to as upper class.

Okay, I don’t usually make comments on other people who post, but Lawntawn that was downright nasty thing to say about some one’s weight. Especially someone with 3 boys. Sometimes that weight can be hard to lose. Also maybe her hubby likes a little junk in the trunk. Not every man likes stick thin models with no boobs or a**. I agree about the spelling, hey google tool’s bar has spell check!!

Just a thought but I thought Black Sports Players liked skinny white bitches…Deshawn is downright fat….

Deshawn girl you cant even spell…what do you know about giving advice to that Atlanta trash? Deshawn ought to have known every cheap ghetto rat was going to go to her house and drink her liquor and eat her food…and sit there like thugs when they started a white girl auction..they should be forced to start out living in a trailer park..not a four star either…

well, I think I would have to stnad up for DeShawn because we have the same name. The review ahead states that all of those females are trashy. I would like to know what the reviewers’ life is like.I also agree with most of the comments, thats because those are people who’ve come into new money. I feel as though there should be some type of; N.M.E.C, New Money Etiquette Courses, for those who have no sence of class what so ever. Only because they start to look like a joke while loosing respect for thenselves… ON NAIONAL TELEVISON, Thats prety much how i feel about the whole situation. Plus poeple who have class and money, no matter their ethnicity, are usually very low key spenders if not frugal with their earnings. These New “HouseWives” shouldn’t have their sucess on there backs, instead they should show how they really are worth in their actions. Agian thats just my personal opinion

You couldn’t have said it better. I like to catch some episodes of Real House Wives. With the exception of one (the one with the toddler), I think they are all trash. They have no idea that they are being made fun of. I can’t wait for the classic Jerry Springer moments to come! I scream at the tv whenever Deshawn Snow mispronounces a word. With all that money she can’t take a ESL class?
